Looking back at the first quarter of 2012

piet_van_herk222The first 4 months of 2012 have passed and in this industry the most important conferences have passed. The busiest convention is that of FIDI Global Alliance, the umbrella organization in the field of international relocation.

The congress was held in Boston and there were over 600 people from more than 75 countries. A good indicator to determine the status of international mobility.

Looking at our own company we can see a small increase of 3% compared to last year. Especially the Eastern European sites received more orders, both internationally and locally.

In the Netherlands we started the website Goedkoopverhuizen.nl, where everyone can calculate the costs of their future move and book this right away. The first bookings have been coming in and we can see the success. This is really a unique experience within the Dutch moving industry.

On the May 1 we started with United Logistic Services International BV, briefly mentioned as ULSI. This organization led by Danny van der Meer focuses on complex logistical issues that we receive from our foreign partners. Think about setting up hotels or special store fixtures, but also transport of high quality electronic equipment. A completely different ballgame, where such specific services are needed.

We are, despite the current economic period, reasonably positive for the rest of the year, but realize that long term planning is very uncertain in the current international market.
