Moving internationally means more administration and regulations than often anticipated.
Customs forms in a strange language with lots of small print, import restrictions on f.i. political or religious literature, ornaments and articles, confiscation of property, excessive import duties and taxes, delays that result in high port charges. It can easily go wrong when one is not familiar with local regulations habits and procedures.
In many countries duties and taxes apply, even when it concerns used and already owned goods. And they can become very high when local, informal, regulations are applied.
In certain countries the official regulations may change by the day, for which it is important to know someone locally that is familiar with the possibilities to have the goods still cleared in the quickest way.
Voerman, in close cooperation with the local partner, shall gladly handle this part of the move for you. In consultation with the foreign agent, we will timely advice the expat about the required documents, which can often already be completed and submitted upfront.
Goods that may get special attention or need to be physically inspected by Customs at destination will be conveniently loaded to avoid extra handling.
In short, the expat will be informed in full and in time, thus avoiding risks for unnecessary delays and costs.
A dedicated coordinator at Voerman will, in close cooperation with your employee and the agent at destination, initiate and guide the flow of required documents.
One less worry and, economically spoken, most certainly advisable to have Voerman take care of this.
